Are you a transparent, progressive, and entrepreneurial individual with 3 years+ automotive engineering experience? Our client is currently looking for an EDS Engineer to join the team in either Northeast England or the West Midlands. 


The company 

Our client design, manufacture and sell advanced single and double deck buses within the automotive market. They have developed a range of low-carbon buses with optimised drive systems, setting the benchmark for fuel economy and CO2 reduction. Their lightweight engineering, premium service and low running costs all contribute to these advanced passenger vehicles designed for a global market. 


The role 

As EDS Engineer, you’ll work within the electrical circuit design team and alongside the other design teams to produce quality wiring harnesses. You will also create schematics in 2D harness drawings for both low voltage and high voltage systems.   

In addition, you’ll define, develop, and implement the electrical strategy, from concept to end of production life.  
Responsibilities include: 

  • Preparing wiring diagrams from vehicle architecture, system diagrams, and component device transmittals  

  • Developing the maturity of the wiring diagrams from concept through to sign-off  

  • Defining fuse and ground topologies to meet the stipulations of DFMEA 

  • Conforming to industry best practise 

  • Creating harness drawings and electrical assemblies  

  • Being aware of electronics packaging requirements  

  • Supporting the generation of 3D harnesses  

The requirements 

You’ll have 3 years+ automotive engineering experience in the field of automotive electrical engineering. Other requirements include: 

  • Degree educated in a relevant engineering topic 

  • Good understanding of EDS system design, including fusing, grounding, and network topologies 

  • Knowledge of EDS requirements, specifications, and validation methods  

  • Able to use circuit design software (e.g., Vesys) 

  • Strong knowledge of 2D harness drawing requirements 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Adaptable, resilient, and open to change 

  • Action-orientated, proactive and works at pace
