Are you willing to learn new skills and problem-solve on exciting, technically challenging projects? Our client is looking for a talented Controls Engineer in Battery Management Systems to join their team in Northamptonshire and work with some of the biggest names in motorsport.

 
The company 

Our client is an electrified powertrain specialist in battery systems, control systems, electric and hybrid drivetrains, and full vehicle programs. Flexibility and scalability are key for their customers – opening up new realms of possibility and opportunity.  

 
The role 
As a Controls Engineer, you will contribute to the successful development of our client’s in-house Battery Management System software for a range of vehicle applications such as automotive, motorsport, marine, aerospace and off-highway.  

Other responsibilities include: 

  • Developing algorithms in MathWorks’ Matlab/Simulink environment  

  • Developing embedded software for microcontrollers in C 

  • Collaborating with the Test & Development team 

  • Reporting battery system architecture and algorithm developments 

  • Considering the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities 

  • Complying with the Data Protection Act 2018 

 

The requirements 

You will have expert knowledge of battery system architectures and battery management systems, as well as…

  • Degree educated in a relevant discipline  

  • Familiar with key automotive software tools (including Matlab and Simulink)

  • Experience in developing embedded software for microcontrollers  

  • Strong understanding of battery system algorithms 

  • Ability to generate battery system commissioning and validation sign-off plans 

  • Innovative and enjoys resolving challenges

  • Outstanding information gathering and data analysis  

  • Proactive, self-motivated individual  

  • Keen attention to detail 

  • Willing to develop and learn new skills
