FMC are working in partnership with a global medical technology business that are a dominant world leader in the provision of surgical systems. This is an exciting time to be joining the UK operations, which has strong growth projections alongside new products currently being launched into the market.

The role

The Clinical Trainer will offer in theatre clinical training and technical support for a range of ophthalmic implants, liquids and consumables. Primarily focused around the support, handling and in-theatre training of surgical ophthalmic consumable devices, including correct implantation techniques.

Working alongside both clinical and commercial stakeholders, this role is focused on supporting both implant and consumable trials before the sales process and then national training once products are in situ.

The successful candidate will be adaptable to support weekend theatre lists where required (5 day working week) and will therefore be responsible for their own time management based on customer demand.

This is an exciting role to be at the forefront of clinical and technical innovation of surgical ophthalmic techniques whilst representing an outstanding brand in the market.

The role offers a very natural progression route for those working in a theatre environment as either a scrub nurse, surgical assistant or in a hands-on theatre role supporting the surgeon.

The requirements

We are looking for a candidate with a demonstrable background of working in theatres – specifically supporting cataract surgeries either in the NHS or private hospital environment, alongside;

  • Must have cataract surgery experience
  • Ability to teach and share information engagingly to different target audiences
  • Experience of working in a clinical environment which could be NHS or private hospitals
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to absorb information and translate this into engaging training materials
  • Either experience of, or propensity to establish commercial relationships with customers
  • Open to UK wide travel if required
