Are you an experienced engineer looking to bring your expertise to a sales role? Our client is looking for a talented Business Development Executive to join their team.

The company 

Our client is on a mission to create the future of powertrains. They work on the full lifecycle from strategic planning to testing powertrain and electrification technologies. They have got a rich history in the automotive space, working with major vehicle OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers to optimise their products. 

Working towards a more sustainable future, they are operating in the electrification space to advance the development of new, more sustainable technologies.

The role

As a Business Development Executive, you’ll propel our client’s brand throughout the UK, mainland Europe and key regions in Asia by positioning our client’s products and services as effective solutions to win business with new and existing customers. You’ll build a network of trusted relationships with customers, key accounts and technical leaders and gain a deep understanding of their business needs in order to create compelling engineering-based solutions that address their requirements. 

Other responsibilities include:

  • Analysing the market to identify growth opportunities 

  • Growing the customer base and market presence in line with targets

  • Learning technical requirements of the product portfolio

  • Hitting and exceeding sales targets

  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives 

  • Negotiating contracts and commercials terms 

  • Maintaining a high level of industry expertise and competitive intelligence 


The requirements 

You’ll have a proven track record in a business development role, preferably in a consultancy environment, as well as: 

  • Degree educated in Mechanical, Electrical or Control system Engineering (or equivalent experience) 

  • Strong engineering background with experience in electrified propulsion systems, transmission and driveline, or powertrain testing 

  • Detailed understanding of industry market trends and competitor capabilities 

  • Excellent customer-facing skills and able to maintain a strong personal impression

  • Strong communication, articulation and presentation skills

  • Fluent in English and French/German/Japanese/Chinese 

  • High IT proficiency (including Microsoft Suite) 

  • Passionate about learning and facing new challenges 

  • Keen to develop personally and professionally

  • Flexible and willing to travel
