Are you looking to problem-solve on exciting, technically challenging projects? Our client is looking for a talented Battery Modelling Engineer in Battery Management Systems to join their team in Northamptonshire and work with some of the biggest names in motorsport.  

 
The company 

Our client is an electrified powertrain specialist in battery systems, control systems, electric and hybrid drivetrains, and full vehicle programs. Flexibility and scalability are key for their customers – opening up new realms of possibility and opportunity.  

 
The role 
As a Battery Modelling Engineer, you will contribute to the successful development of our client’s internal battery modelling tool software, with a primary focus on high-performance battery systems, for a range of vehicle applications such as automotive, motorsport, marine, aerospace and off-highway.  

Other responsibilities include: 

  • Predicting battery performance for pack design 

  • Scaling up of cell models  

  • Modelling different cooling systems  

  • Supporting battery test planning to validate models developed 

  • Conducting data analysis and pattern spotting 

  • Considering the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities 

  • Complying with the Data Protection Act 2018 

 

The requirements 

You will know battery system architectures and battery management systems, as well as…

  • Degree educated in a relevant discipline  

  • Experience with cell electrical and thermal modelling techniques  

  • Familiar with key automotive software tools (including Matlab and Simulink)

  • Knowledge of cell testing techniques 

  • Ability to generate battery model plans, analyse data and report on performance 

  • Outstanding information gathering and data analysis  

  • Proactive, self-motivated individual  

  • Keen attention to detail 

  • Excellent communication and team working skills  

  • Willing to develop and learn new skills
