Do you have experience with software and hardware sales? This is a great opportunity to be a part of a large globally focused procurement and supply chain focused team. Our client is looking for an Associate Business Development Manager to join their team in Cambridgeshire.

A market leader, our client is focused on implementing innovative optical technologies into their range of high-value and high-tech capital equipment systems. They are a world-renowned German manufacturer with a reputation for delivering gold-standard technologies. 


The role 

As Associate Business Development Manager, you’ll identify new business opportunities to generate revenue, improve profitability and help the business grow. As well as developing relationships with customers, suppliers, and other partners, your work will involve careful strategic planning and positioning in the appropriate markets.  

Responsibilities include: 

  • Supporting the creation of a vision and strategy for several business funnels  

  • Operating this strategy in the form of sales activities  

  • Monitoring the external and internal operating situations 

  • Formulating objectives that enable the business to respond to the situation  

  • Collaborating with KOL focus groups, customer stakeholders, international and virtual teams 

  • Operationalising the strategy in line with governance, compliance, and cultural direction  

  • Growing the Software, Hardware and Service Contract revenue 

  • Analysing and reporting the given market sector of responsibility 

The requirements 

You will have 2 years sales experience with software and hardware sales. Other requirements include: 

  • At a minimum, 3 A Levels (STEM) or equivalent NVQ 

  • Ideally an undergraduate honours degree in a STEM subject  

  • Knowledge of the basic commercial sales process  

  • Basic business development and networking skills  

  • Understanding of digital marketing methods and imaging software 

  • Experience of pro-active aftersales including upselling and upgrades  

  • Familiarity with competitor products is desirable  

  • Experience in the microscopy and imaging technology sector is desirable  

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Flexible attitude, self-motivated and able to work autonomously  

  • UK driving licence and a valid passport  

  • Domestic and international travel will be required
