Are you an experienced research engineer who wants to develop solutions for the analysis of metals and raw materials? Our client is looking for an Applications Development Engineer to develop new applications for material analysis. 

Our client is a global leader in the manufacturer of optically biased imaging systems with a?reputation for producing gold-standard microscopy solutions. They are a leading manufacturer of microscopes that are used in a variety of high-tech industries worldwide and are pushing the boundaries of innovation! 


The role 


As an Applications Development Engineer you’ll be a leader in applications in the geoscience and natural resources sectors and will be a go-to expert in your field (Metals). You’ll be focused on identifying and solving customer problems and needs as well as managing collaborations with key customers and sector leaders.  


Responsibilities include: 

  • Networking and collaborating with application partners and key opinion leaders 

  • Gathering insight from the market on application trends 

  • Identifying and solving customer needs 

  • Supporting product development 

  • Providing training on demonstration laboratories, including best known methods for the use of instruments 

  • Validating reports on applications trends 

  • Developing customer solutions and workflows 

  • Publishing white papers and application and technical notes 


The requirements 


You’ll have an MSc or PhD in a relevant subject and will have proven experience of analysing materials, as well as… 

  • Research experience linked to natural resources, metals or geosciences 

  • Strong understanding of analytical tools used in these markets 

  • Knowledge of microscopy 

  • Ability to approach projects with a commercial mindset 

  • Project management experience 

  • Ability to develop and validate new analytical methods 

  • Experience contributing to technical papers and presentations 

  • Ability to generate and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships
