Eye care manufacturers – who should you work for and why?

What attracted you to your current employer? What would attract you to a new one?
There are many answers to these questions, and over the last 12 months FMC Meditech has mapped and aggregated their eye care market knowledge to find out what attracts candidates to the biggest names in the industry, and who these big names are.
Market share isn’t the only thing that we consider
When we look at the best manufacturers to work for we consider a variety of factors, and so do our candidates.
Whilst market share is an important indicator of the status of a company within its market, this doesn’t always equate to being the best place to work. It’s about more than that.

What we consider…
Our consultants speak to thousands of candidates about hundreds of roles each year. Here’s what we discussed when talking about what attracts them to certain companies in the market:
- Salary
- Benefits
- Training and development schemes
- Progression opportunities
- Company culture
- Innovation
- Employer brand
So, who are the most attractive companies for candidates in the eye care space?
Top Equipment Manufacturers
- Birmingham Optical
- Carleton Optical
- Carl Zeiss
- Haag-Streit
- Optos
- Topcon
Top Lens Manufacturers
- Essilor
- Hoya Lens
- Nikon Optical
- Zeiss Vision
What’s all the fuss about?
When looking for a new job it can be a hard task to understand what organisations are like to work for before taking the leap. Sites such as Glassdoor and Indeed go some way to making this easier! For example, with Hoya Lens, what they state themselves about ‘the importance of benefits’ is backed up by their Glassdoor Reviews. Whilst Zeiss Vision say that they prioritise ‘individual training and further education’, something that the ‘world class training’ comments on Glassdoor would reinforce. Access to real opinions is always helpful to candidates.
There is nothing quite like hearing opinions and views on employers straight from the employees mouth though, which is why FMC Meditech have explored the views and opinions of these brands.
