Creating a desirable company culture is viewed as difficult. It is so important, and so vital today that if you’re not thinking about it… your probably losing some of your best people! Is it really that difficult? What is it that creates a strong company culture?

Transparency and communication
Everyone in your business should know where it’s heading. Once the goals for the month/quarter/year are established by the senior team these need to be communicated to everyone… in some form or another!

Understanding work-life balance
Don’t let your people buckle under the pressure… everybody needs a break. If you’re the type of person who is happy to be all work and no play, that’s cool, but most people need the balance.

Continued learning
There is no such thing as stopping your learning. We should always be learning! As an employer, you should help facilitate this by making the resources available.

Clarity of purpose
There is nothing worse than not understanding why you’re doing something, the feeling of pointlessness if the worse. Make sure you provide clarity regarding any task or project you set (this is why we are doing it, the goal is to get this, our overall objectives are this.)… and this goes for an individual’s job as a whole as well.

Empowerment
Especially at this time of year, when most managers are setting goals and targets for the year. Make sure you always focus on the positives, and what can be improved… rather than everything they did wrong last year! Empower them to do better without dragging them down in the process.

Environment
This shouldn’t be under-estimated… a fun light environment will help inspire people. Grey walls and dreary blinds are really not what it’s all about!

As employers, we have the choice to make work a place that people want to be, rather than have to be! If you achieve this, it will drive through job satisfaction and ultimately create loyalty and harder workers within your business.

At FMC Global Talent, we drive our own company culture… but also we make sure we understand our clients and help promote it! Get in touch today for an exploratory chat.
