Wise heads and young legs… celebrating 30 years of FMC

For some, 1988 will feel worryingly like five minutes ago. For 85% of the employees here at FMC Global Talent though, they were merely a twinkle in the eye! Nevertheless, it was the year that we, FMC (or Fairfax Management Consultants officially) came bursting on to the scene… in an office above a chemist shop in Sleaford. Over the course of 2018 we will be reflecting on our 30 years in operation and looking back at 1988… the bad haircuts included. Yes kids, the mullet was fashionable and not in an ironic way.
Remembering 1988
Margaret Thatcher became the longest serving British prime minister in 1988 (having been in power for eight years and 244 days), we had the first conviction for murder in the UK based on DNA fingerprinting evidence and US President Ronald Reagan made a visit to Britain (parallel to our current lack of presidential visit). People escaped this political excitement though by flocking to the local picture house to see films like Rainman, Die Hard, Beetlejuice and A Fish Called Wanda. Or they crowded round a Boombox to listen to new music like Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up, George Michael’s Faith and the Guns N Roses hit Sweet Child O’Mine … all pretty epic music I say.
But, possibly the most important thing to happen to us all in 1988… Rupert Grint was born, who went on to be our beloved Ron Weasley in Harry Potter.
Yes, the year was as big as everyone’s hair.
Jokes aside, we’re proud to be celebrating 30 years of FMC. We’ve been on quite a journey and we’re all looking forward to the next 30.
Stay tuned for more 30 years anniversary fun!
We offer our clients and candidates both experience and energy.
